Day Ten - Plane hopping
// August 6th - Cusco - Lima - El Salvador - CancĂșn //
Getting up
at 4.45 am, I got ready to catch yet another three planes. My Airbnb host
organized a cab that took me to the airport for a few dollars (I love South
America for being so cheap and making travel actually easily affordable), and I
actually had a conversation with the driver about the last days at the
Salkantay Trail, Machu Picchu, and how everything hurt. He said he gets that a
lot. Still, it was worth every single step!
From the
line at the airport I watched my last Peruvian sunrise, and while the light
blue turned into a radiant pink, I just had to smile. The last days were simply
amazing.
I met a
nervous girl who was anxious to miss her flight to Lima, the same I had, so I
let her go in front of the line with me, while she was telling me about the
time she spent volunteering in Cusco. It sounded pretty interesting.
The rest of
the time that I spent traveling wasn’t too exciting. I sat next to a man who
was taking up way too much space, while he was training his Pokémon until the
stewardess politely, but firmly asked him again to switch his device to
airplane mode. Sorry, Pikachu, you have to wait. It’s crazy how even Cusco was
full of people playing the game, one even went into a church staring at his
device, looking for Pokémon.
From Cusco
to Lima, from Lima to El Salvador (which looked so beautiful from what I saw out
of the windows, that I definitely want to come back), from El Salvador to CancĂșn.
Just one more time I’ll have a day with three flights, it gets annoying and takes
so much time… Especially since most of the airports don’t have free internet.
El Salvador was the only one, Lima had 10 minutes and that’s it. But at least I
get to work on the blog and my photos.
I arrived
in CancĂșn eventually and managed to find my friend Karla without any cell phone
reception or internet. I love how your Disney family is basically everywhere in
the world. It makes all those places feel a little bit like home.
After
dinner and cruising around, looking for the Airbnb for way too long, I met my
host and Odin, his dog, we had a beer and talked about the trip for tomorrow. Swimming
with whale sharks, snorkeling, visiting the underwater museum and cruising
through the mangroves.
I’m
excited, and looking forward to my first time in MĂ©xico!
